Loving My Natural Hair

Adorning my head with my natural curls have given me peace and an appreciation of myself. What God have given me is beautiful. I always thought that I had to relax my hair to get it straight because that was the "in" thing when I was in High School to keep up with my peers. Chemical straighteners, straightening combs, and curling irons were some of things that I used on my hair. On top of that I have soft fine hair so I was damaging and weakening the structure of my hair even more. That's when about 3 years ago I said enough is enough and decided to let my relaxer grow out and go natural.
It was hard at first because I had a lot of bad hair days. The transitioning process from relaxed hair to natural made me to want to throw in the towel. But I tried to keep positive knowing in time it will pay off and I was doing something good for myself. As time went by I could see promising results. Those naturals curls started to arrive as well as less bad hair days.
As soon as all the relaxer was out of my hair I began looking into Hair Products for Natural Black Hair. I searched the Internet and found several products for my natural hair. Black Hair Care for Natural Hair is becoming a popular search among the black community as more and more of us are making the switch from relaxed to natural. I shampoo and condition my hair with natural products and apply a natural leave in conditioner about twice a week. I also apply a light oil to my hair ends every day such as organic extra virgin coconut oil because Black hair tends to be dry. No matter what's the texture it breaks easily and need to be cared for gently. Use a wide tooth comb to groom Black hair. I use a volumizer comb to add volume by gently lifting my hair. Since I want my curls to remain I never comb or brush my hair when styling. I do comb my hair with either the wide tooth comb or the volumizer comb before I shampoo and condition my hair.
A healthy diet that consists of Organic fruits, vegetables and drinking plenty of water will help keep your hair hydrated. Massage your scalp daily to increase blood circulation to your scalp. Supplements such as biotin and MSM are also good for maintaing good hair health.
I know now that I made a wise choice when I decided to go natural. Not only is my hair easier to care for but I am doing something healthier for me. I learned to embrace myself and love me for who I am naturally. If you are deciding to go natural good for you! I commend you for embracing and loving yourself naturally!
